About Us

Named in honour of the Australian artist Sir Lionel Lindsay, The Lindsay Collection is proudly paying homage to a strong bold heritage. Lindsays works featured the early Australian pioneers who explored and worked the land. In the 1940s he formed a friendship with William (Bill) Bolton MBE, a man drawn to Lindsay's artistic vision of early Australia and he became an avid collector of Lindsay's work. Prior to his death in 1973, Bolton's collection of more than 400 artworks and 3,000 books, maps and manuscripts was donated to become The Lionel Lindsay Collection. Today in the Barossa Valley, Bill Bolton's grandson Will and his business partner Matt Dunning are continuing this interest in Lindsay's work. Drawing upon the pioneering spirit captured in Lindsay's paintings.

With 30 years experience in the Australian wine industry coupled with a degree in environmental management, Matt's knowledge of crafting premium wine is extensive. His skills are diverse having worked across many areas of the industry. From vineyard management, production, packaging and winemaking through to domestic and international sales. Matt has vast experience across all facets of the wine industry. Matt's hands-on approach to winemaking, combined with a deep understanding of Barossa fruit and the region's terroir is reflected in the unique range of wines he crafts. He is passionate about all things wine from the vines through to the final packaging. This attention to detail is reflected in The Lindsay Collection.

We are privileged to work with vines that are over 150+ years old, vines of the Barossa and Clare Valley that have shaped the nations wine industry. We employ sustainable viticulture practices to ensure the vineyard remains in balance with nature resulting in absolute quality in the bottle. Beginning in the vineyard we use only the gentlest techniques in the pursuit of crafting Australia's definitive wine styles. It is the careful and considered work in the vineyard from pruning to picking that determines the true foundation and character of each wine.

Australia is home to an amazing array of diverse climates and terroir. This diversity is reflected in our unique and regionally distinct range of wines. We strive to source only the highest quality grapes from the best vineyards in our favorite wine regions. In the winery each parcel is handled gently and thoughtfully to ensure winemaking techniques only enhance the potential quality of the resulting wine. Our aim is to achieve balance, elegance, and finesse in every wine. We make wines that are at once both powerful and elegant with wild yeast and a minimalistic approach.
